Round three of Electric Island returns on August 7th for the Civic Day edition, featuring a massive techno lineup that is perfectly paired with the recent temporary venue change. Featuring Nina Kraviz, KiNK, Mano Le Tough, and Jackmaster on the mainstage, the third Electric Island of summer 2017 is making a statement with a heavy lineup that is geared towards Toronto’s techno hungry crowd. The forecasts call for sunny skies, so what better way to celebrate the end of the long weekend with a great techno showcase taking place at the Portlands Toronto, located at 51 Commissioners Road.
The Toronto Islands, home to the permanent Electric Island events, have been flooded all summer and only recently announced that they would be re-opening the (ferry) gates to the island a few days ago. The last event, taking place on Canada Day, was moved to the Portlands, a dock with an industrial like vibe located smack in between Toronto music venues Cherry Beach and the beach club Cabana PoolBar. The Portlands boasts a very industrial movement inspired vibe, with literal ship crates scattered throughout the grounds and all of downtown Toronto as the backdrop. With such a niche venue being the temporary host of the Electric Island summer series, there is no perfect pairing than heavy techno hitters Nina Kraviz and KiNK to dish out serious underground quasi-industrial and warehouse vibes. With another Berlin heavyweight Mano Le Tough, and synth enthusiast Jackmaster opening up, the Portlands is actually the best of any venues to host this latest Electric Island lineup at.
If heavy techno isn’t your thing, which would place you outside of the majority in Toronto, Deetron and Dâm-Funk will be providing some more groovy tech house over on the main stage. Wherever you decide to linger, there’s no doubt that Electric Island’s temporary industrial edition will be the party to be at come this Monday.
