Summer is almost coming to an end and Electric Island’s weekend festival finale is finally here. This time around, Electric Island will take place over two days during the Labour Day long weekend, Sunday September 4th and Monday September 5th on Toronto Island’s Hanlan’s Point.
If you’ve been to a past Electric Island event, this 2-day weekend finale is one you won’t want to miss. If you haven’t been yet, this weekend is the time to go. Day 1 on Sunday will host well-known tech djs Green Velvet, Claude Vonstroke, Nicole Moudaber, Justin Martin and more. Day 2 on Monday will host Loco Dice, Dixon, Âme, Guy J, Fatima Yamaha (live) and more.
Weekend tickets are on sale for 70$ and grant you admission to both days. Single day tickets are also available for 60$. Tickets can be purchased here: http://www.ticketweb.ca/search?q=electric+island

Think you can only handle one day and don’t know which one to choose? If you’re planning on going with friends that aren’t necessarily into the whole dance music scene, Day 1 is definitely the right pick. The likes of Sean Miller, Justin Martin, and Get Real: Claude Vonstroke Vs Green Velvet will likely play a friendlier sound; one that doesn’t necessarily require you to continuously dig through different Resident Advisor podcasts or attend CODA on a regular basis to enjoy. That’s not to say that the tech house sets won’t get the regulars dancing with catchy basslines and more prominent vocal tracks either. But in the case of those techno purists that every time after time again has, don’t worry Nicole Moudaber and Bicep will get the job done for you.
While Day 1 seems to be where the party is, Day 2 is where the music certainly takes center stage. Between live sets from Fatima Yamaha and Âme, Guy J’s progressive house, and all star veteran booking Loco Dice, Day 2 was organized for a more industry Toronto crowd and will garner attention from the more long-time Electric Island fans. Somehow the event organizers managed to magically squeeze in the best of Toronto’s bookings over the past year into ten hours on the island, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Given this talent rich lineup, the only thing that’s left to wonder is who CODA will host for the grand after-party.
See you on the island!
