By Chloe Hoy. Experimental folk artist Layten Kramer is on the rise. After taking the title at this year’s Calgary Stampede Talent Search, the Vancouver-based singer-songwriter recently released his five-song EP, Through the Days. A listen to his track, “Sea of Glass,” will seamlessly perk up any gloomy day. It’s thoughtful, and reminiscent of the increasingly popular chamber rock genre, which I love. Stream and purchase the new release below.
Wanting to revolve around themes of loving, longing and loss, the record focused on ensuring there would be a “warm natural sound.” Instrumentally and rhythmically driven, the release features the trumpet, organ, and piano on select tracks.
Kramer will be hosting a dual release party on October 22nd with another one of my favourite local musicians, Sam Tudor – who will be releasing his new album, Modern New Year. If you live in Vancouver, be sure to celebrate the new releases at The Media Club starting at 8pm.
