Two Door Cinema Club and touring mates, St. Lucia, performed for a full house last Friday night at the Fox Theater Pomona. The Irish trio has come a long way since their days performing in small clubs, and it was apparent during the sold out show.

Full of energy and infectious beats, Brooklyn-based St. Lucia, riled up the crowd with their electro-pop melodies. Tracks from their recent release, When The Night, translated well live. Their performance of “Elevate” was dance-inducing and created a jovial atmosphere. Crowd interaction was not only welcomed, but encouraged throughout their set.

Once Two Door Cinema Club took the stage, it was revealed that this was their first time in Pomona. Fans welcomed them with warm cheers, to which the band replied with an endearing “thank you.” The setlist was filled with new songs including the recently released “Changing of the Seasons,” from the EP with the same name. Already a fan favorite, the live version of this song illustrated not only the band’s developed stage presence, but ability to further enhance the song’s dynamics. However, surprising the audience was the reappearance of the crowd pleaser “Cigarettes in the Theatre” during their encore.

The show exceeded expectations and left fans reeling from the memorable experience. (By Jennie Tan)
