I am going to preface this by saying that I love Miley. I do. I loved her as Hannah Montana and I loved her through out all of her terrible indie movies. I even loved her at the VMAs when she looked like Crazy Eyes from Orange is the New Black.
Her video for her song, “Wrecking Ball,” (which you can watch below) came out today. I was expecting it to be more racy than it ended up being, but it had its moments. I thought the song itself was great. It was a break up anthem and it made me feel a bit emotional. The thing that got me was all of her sexualization of the props. I thought it dramatically took away from the song and it’s message, and I think it was the wrong direction for the video to go. Her swinging naked on a wrecking ball and licking a hammer didn’t really do it for me. I felt like it was just wrong for the video. I liked when she was swinging on the ball with clothes. Not because I was uncomfortable with her nakedness, I just felt as it did not fit what the message was.
All in all, I liked the song but gave the video a solid 6. It had potential to be a really great video, but I think she was trying to go with a similar theme as her first video.
Also, what color are her eyes naturally? Will we ever know?
Still love you Miley. Keep doing you.
