Marking its 34th year, the Burlington Sound of Music Festival is one of the best family-friendly summer weekend music festivals in Ontario. This festival is particularly known as Canada’s largest FREE music festival. Located by the Waterfront in the city of Burlington (about an hour drive from Toronto), the festival of all musical genres was also host to many carnival games, food trucks, and the downtown streetfest. On Father’s Day weekend from June 13 to 16, over 200,000 people gathered by the lake to enjoy the thrills of this festival. This year’s main-stage acts included Eleven Past One, DiRTY RADiO, Down With Webster, Diamond Rings, Lights, and many many more. And to top it all off, the nights were concluded with beautiful 15 minute firework shows by the water!
Despite Thursday’s rainy weather and muddy park grass, there was beautiful weather throughout the rest of the weekend. I even brought my parents and siblings out to the festival. We enjoyed some funnel cake and lemonade.
There was a convenient shuttle for Go Transit commuters, nightly fireworks, and tons of impressive volunteers helping out and ensuring everything went smoothly. We checked out Day 1 and Day 3, and it was absolutely packed both nights. Once again, the BSOMF was a hit!
